Why I Love My Life Group

Let me tell you about my life group. All ages from twenties to fifties. All walks of life from babies to teenagers and from blue collars to white collars. None better than the other. Simply doing life together as fellow friends of God.

Here's what we're up too...

Friday night we're hanging out. Games and homemade pizzas. Mmm.

Sunday morning we're serving together. The smiling faces for all who come through the doors of Harvest Chapel.

Monday night we're digging into Scripture. Applying love and tackling life.

Let's not forget the constants. Friends to count on. Laughter. Minds to pull from. Really really good food. Shoulders to lean on.

So...why do I love my life group? Seems like a silly question after noting the above. Doesn't it? Which only begs the real question. Why struggle and stumble alone? Get plugged in. Do life together. Build support walls.

When the time comes...you'll be glad you did as we're designed to be actively engaged within community. And...we all know life happens and the time always comes sooner or later. Until next time. Jed.

Governance As BBQ

Got this one just a few days ago from a good friend. Thanks Jeff. Perhaps you've seen it. Either way, it's hilarious.

Women Disclaimer: please don't hate us or hold grudges as we love you all...thanks for allowing us a good laugh.

Don't forget laughter is good for the soul. Hope you enjoy.

----------

We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore, it's important to refresh our memories on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to BBQ...the following chain of events are put into motion.

1. The woman buys the food.

2. The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes the dessert.

3. The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill.

4. The woman remains outside the compulsory ten foot exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.

Here's the important part...

5. THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

Now, more routine...

6. The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

7. The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring a fresh drink while he flips the meat.

Important again...

8. THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

9. The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, and sauces...and brings them to the table.

10. After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And...most important of all...

11. Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

12. The man asks the woman how she enjoyed her night off and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

The Story Behind This Name

More often than not...people ask - "What's with ljutic213 anyways?" Well...ljutic213 is my user name for both facebook and twitter. Is it hard for most to remember? Absolutely! Can anyone besides a select few pronounce it? Absolutely not! Have I considered changing it? Everyday of my life!

So, here's the story behind this name...

Ljutic is a gun manufacturer. American made. American owned. Manufacturing one of the best for trapshooters everywhere. You may check them out here.

Me? I simply love trapshooting. It once consumed and framed dollar after dollar of hour after hour of week after week. Then...my kids arrived with their beating hearts and smiling faces. So, for a season, my kids have trumped my guns.

As you may have guessed, I own a Ljutic. The serial number of my Ljutic is 213. Put the two together and there you go...ljutic213.

Pronounced? Ljutic...lu-tick.

Come on over and visit sometime. We'll have some coffee and I'll show you my Ljutic. Yes...I realize that whole sentence sounds a bit bizarre. But, it really is a thing of beauty.

Perhaps one day this name will change. But, for now, I will ignore the naysayers and proudly display this difficult to pronounce and difficult to remember name. Why? Simply because it's me. So...why not! Until next time. Jed.

Winner Of Crave

Many replies mainly via email and twitter. Thanks all as I was greatly impressed with the creative responses...and I actually crave many of the same. Thanks also to Harvest House for making this giveaway possible.

The winner has been contacted...so, if you haven't been contacted...sorry. As our friend Charlotte would say...chin up, chin up, everybody loves a happy face (that's from Charlotte's Web for those who have blocked that one from memory).

Stay tuned for additional posts regarding Crave by Chris Tomlinson soon. Also, posting about my life plan later tonight. Thanks again!

Book Giveaway Of Crave By Chris Tomlinson

Who loves free stuff? Don't we all? Count me in as there's no guilt or shame here!

Happy day as I have a crisp and fresh copy of Crave by Chris Tomlinson. A copy to give freely and willingly. I kind of feel like Santa - whom I secretly admire. Remember...no guilt of shame here.

Crave: Wanting So Much More Of God

I started digging into this read today. My first thought? Discipleship...what an amazing resource for discipleship! But, I'll hold my review until the end. So, stay tuned.

Also, an interview with Chris will publish here within the coming weeks. Really cool stuff! Once again...stay tuned.

Back to the important stuff. The free stuff. Let me know what you crave. Chocolate? Christ? Green grass? Ice cream? Whatever...you name it. Use email, facebook, this blog, or twitter to let me know. The most creative reply wins.

Per my sole discretion, I will select the winner. Now...I feel more like Napoleon than Santa. But...I'll get over it. Your chance to let me know closes at 11:59 pm, Monday, January 25, central time.

The winner will be announced the following day. Until next time. Jed.

My Love Affair

Typing, sitting, and sipping. Sipping some coffee. Once upon a time, coffee was just not it. Mountain Dew, Snapple, or perhaps YooHoo (the chocolate drink). Those were it. But, coffee has somehow crept in. Persistently, slowly, and steadily. I'm not sure how or even when. An exact memory or moment doesn't jump to mind. Nonetheless, coffee now rules the day. The atmospheres, aromas, beans, conversations, grinds, hugs, and laughs. All over a cup or should I say cups of coffee. Any other addicts out there? Don't forget. The first step to recovery is admittance.

A little plug. Moon Monkey Coffee Company. Love the name. Love the coffee even more.

I just wrapped up reading 1st and 2nd Samuel. Many insights and lessons from David. Ingenuity not being the least of these insights and lessons. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Death By Twitter

Those of you on Twitter will appreciate this rockumentary from the David Crowder Band. It's a riot! If you're not on Twitter, fly away now, as you'll only be scratching your head. Let's not puzzle your puzzler more than necessary. After all, it's the weekend.

Note. You'll never fully "get" Twitter until you take the plunge. Come on...everybody's doing it. And I don't want to hear any bridge jumping analogies, which you've likely committed to memory thanks to your parents. Despite what you may think...Twitter is not suicide.

So, look me up on Twitter here. Have a great weekend! Tweet twit away.

A Little Humor

Ever stuggle with names?
